I talked to Steve Dillard who is the coordinator for Bluegrass Games Chess Tournament. He mentioned that this year (2009) the Bluegrass Games will be in Radcliff, KY, which is near Elizabethtown and about 100 miles from Lexington. If we want the tournament in Lexington next year, we need to start talking to him in January.
He mentioned that Bluegrass Games folks are talking about winter tournaments and perhaps we can have a tournament closer to Lexington then.

I am a bit disappointed and surprised about that. I knew they were looking into Lawrenceburg - but I guess that didn't work out. Winchester was a venue for some of these games in the past and so was Richmond. Was it ever held in Lexington?

It was held in Lexington years ago. I remember Dunbar was a site. I, too, am disappointed that it is no longer held in Winchester. I thought it was a good central location and had great turn-outs.

As being the outspoken one, as my good friends Marty and Naresh can attest to, of course. I must say this seems to be what we can expect. Until we wake up and start building, Rome again, we will travel to compete. There will be no one to look out for Central Kentucky's best interest except for Central Kentucky. Sounding off, LET'S BUILD!!!!!!!!! Administrators not responsible for the contents of this message.
